About An Evening of Funk: George Clinton revolutionized R&B during the ’70s, twisting soul music into funk by adding influences from several late ’60s heroes: Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, and Sly Stone. The Parliament/Funkadelic machine ruled black music during the ’70s, capturing over 40 R&B hit singles and recording three platinum albums. Morris Day burst onto the public scene with the group's self-titled album, The Time, which included "Get It Up," "Cool," and "Girl." Soon after the world was introduced to the prolific Minneapolis music marvel, the group went on to record three more albums, including What Time Is It? and Ice Cream Castle. The Ohio Players, with horn-powered grooves, impeccable musicianship, and eye-popping album covers were among the top funk bands of the mid '70s.
